Each with a flattened circular body rising from a spreading foot to a waisted neck, flanked by a pair of ruyi handles, both faces moulded with a peach-shaped panel brightly enamelled with a phoenix standing amongst blooming peonies, all encircled by stylised lotus scrolls on a blue ground, the neck with a band of confronting kui dragons below bats in flight amongst cloud scrolls, the sides with chilong amidst foliate scrolls.

Provenance: Formerly in the collection of an Admiral Commander in the Far East at the beginning of the 20th century and in the family by descent. Sotheby's Paris, 18th December 2008, Lot 45.

Condition: Each with a few original pin burst air bubbles and iron spots, one with a surface chip to the glaze by the circumference edge, approx 7 x 5mm, otherwise in good condition. The other with a small flake to the turquoise enamel (approx 3mm) above one of the handles, otherwise in good condition.
